We have three cats and a dog that make a mess of our light colored carpets. Carpet cleaner is always filled with harsh chemicals and harsh smells. I want to use more natural products , especially because the animals and the kids spend alot of time laying on the carpets. I don’t want them breathing in the chemicals from the cleaner. This is a great all natural way to get out stains and odors.
You will need:
A scrub brush
1/4 cup borax
1/4 cup washing soda
1 tablespoon liquid castile soap
Fill one bowl with the borax, washing soda and soap. mix in a little warm water to make a paste. Fill the other bowl with warm water.
Spoon a generous amount of the paste onto the stained area. dip the scrub brush in the warm water and scrub the area. Always go with the grain of the rug so not to break apart the fibers. Also be sure you use a white non colored brush. sometimes the coloring can come off on the rug.
Allow the area to dry thoroughly and then vacuum the area to remove the excess borax and washing soda.
Clean carpet… no harsh chemical smell. If you want you can add a few drops of your favorite essencial oil to leave a nice small in the room.
