Pizza on the Grill

IMG_20160630_173158888We love making homemade pizza on our gas grill. I comes out tasting just like wood fired pizza from the restaurants. It’s pretty simple and quick too.

You can make your own pizza dough, great recipe HERE  or you can buy the pre made dough from the grocery store. We do either depending on time. both come out great.

Roll the dough out flat to about an 1/4 inch thickness. it doesn’t need to be round, ours are always some weird organic shape but still taste delicious.

Get your grill going and nice and hot. brush the dough with a generous amount of olive oil so it won;t stick. place the dough on the grill and close the lid for about 3-4 minutes. oil the top of the dough and flip and close the cover again for 3-4 minutes. The dough should be firm but not fully cooked.

Remove the dough from the grill and put all the topping you want on it. Then place it back on the grill and close the cover until the cheese it melted and the underside of the pizza is browned and crisp. Usually another 5-6 minutes.

Remove from the grill. allow to cool a few minutes. Cut it up and enjoy!

*Tip: We do the kids pizza first and let it cool, then we do ours while it is cooling. they cook so fast it is easy to do multiple pizzas this way.
