Healthy Treats for Your Pup!

We all love to spoil our pups. But just like with our human babies, too much junk food is unhealthy for them. A lot of dog treats contain artificial coloring and preservatives and have very little nutritional value for your dog. Adding in healthy treats allows you to spoil your pup and increase the nutritional content of their diet. Here are some ideas for healthy nutritious treats :

  • Apples without the core -seeds contain chemical compounds that are poisonous to animals)
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon – without seeds
  • Cantaloupe
  • Frozen bananas
  • Green beans
  • Carrots – raw or cooked
  • Sweet potato – cooked, cubed or mashed without butter or seasoning; regular potatoes are also good, but in limited amounts since they are high in sugar and can increase weight
  • Squash, zucchini
  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Popcorn – unsalted and unbuttered
  • Catnip or cat grass
  • Pawtree freeze dried treats- fruits , veggies and meats freeze dried into treat size portions.
